Everyone desires high traffic. No blame if you too.

When done right, SEO can be a game-changer and can bring you the traffic or visits you only imagine or see in dreams.

Well, unless you have a lot of experience with SEO, though, the path to reach there can seem very uncertain…

...which is why I created this step-by-step SEO case study on how I took one of my clients, Award-Winning Destinations from 100 users monthly to about 40K+ visitors in less than 2 years.

  • Monthly Performance Comparison
  • Performance I Enhanced in 7 Months

Not only that, I even brought some blogs in a featured snippet!

Breathtaking stats, know?

If you want such too, no much panic.

Simply walk through the steps, how I built a site’s SEO strategy from the ground up — turning from few visitors to double (with 100% rate)— and share key takeaways that you can implement on your projects to get optimum results.

Most importantly, it’s a simple (and repeatable) process and you can use it for any business to encourage more qualified traffic from search engines.

Let’s dive into the case study!

Issues To Resolve

Award-Winning Destinations is a content niche website that belongs to the travel & destinations industry. Majorly they run AdSense on their website so all they need is traffic.

For that, they approached me to help with this assignment.

So, initially, when I started working on the website, it was fresh, not optimized, and not gaining much popularity.

Hence, I first redesigned the website and tried hard to make it more user as well as SEO friendly.

Further, I planned an SEO strategy that comprises off-page, on-page optimization, and asked clients to write relevant website blogs that would help generate long-term exposure,  position the brand as an authority in the industry, and ultimately bring more and more visitors.

Procedure to Solve Issues

No matter what project we are working on, going step by step is the best approach we can use, hence I did the same.

To begin with, I revamped the website and made it apt for Google AdSense that fulfills the purpose of the client's website. Then I performed optimization of the website, did keyword mapping for the same, checked for website loading speed. I even suggested the client for adding click-worthy web blogs and further promoted them for better reach. And at last, I am using effective Social Media strategies to promote it rightly.

Seems tough? Well, it is not. Let’s learn all steps in detail to better understand the process!

Step #1. Website Revamping

It is no secret that the more you optimize your website by making it user-friendly, and efficient for your intended audience to use, the more valuable it will become. Therefore, I looked for ways to enhance the functionality and aesthetics of the website, to make it extra appealing to followers.

Another aspect I worked for is its appearance. I changed the outlook of the website attractive while ensuring that the website links and gadgets work smoothly. This helped in enhancing the user experience.

Investing time and effort into redesigning the website will enhance customer satisfaction which will indirectly increase the followers.

Step #2: SEO Friendly Website Optimization

You need to implement the SEO on your website to draw more traffic and for that first, you need to optimize your website to make your strategies work. The steps I followed while doing website optimization is:

1. Keyword Research and Mapping

There was a time when we could pick a keyword out of thin air, write a 300-word article, and the next day rank for that keyword. Well, SEO does not work like that anymore. Hence, I found (still look for) keywords relevant to the business and niche, find long-tail keywords that fit with the prospective customers’ user intent and work to rank them. In the above-mentioned image, you can check the most ranked keywords.

2. Website Speed

Undoubtedly site speed is a crucial ranking factor, and first and foremost, a sign of quality user experience. Therefore I worked to maintain its speed.

3. On-Page SEO

Factors like subheadlines, headlines, URL slugs, and meta tags fall into this category. All I did was create optimized URL structures for search engines. Constructed an internal link structure and navigation that leads the search engines to crawl the website properly and aligns with the visitor’s expectations.

4. Off-Page SEO

Off-Page SEO is when we optimize our website via external means.  So, I earned inbound links from websites that are authoritative by the search engines. Also, earned links to content deep within the site.

5. Responsive design

No wonder, more and more people are using mobile devices and accessing websites from the same. Hence, I made website design a responsive one that offers an amazing experience across all devices.

Step #3: Content Creation and Promotion

From both users’ and search engine’s perspectives, quality content creation and promotion is a must. Posting informative blogs for your audience is always a sound strategy to use. So, I asked the client for the same and hence published the quality, relevant content while keeping a relentless focus on SEO.

But publishing content is not enough. So, I  promoted it on several platforms to reach more and more audiences like Quora, Facebook, etc or I also did off-page content promotions.

Besides, I performed blog posting, article posting, PR posting, content promotions, web 2.0 submission, image sharing, PDF sharing, PPT sharing, video sharing, audio sharing, classified ads, niche links, etc., for better reach!

  • Video Sharing
  • Audio Sharing
  • Web 2.0 Sharing

When it comes to the website to rank better, backlinks are a prime factor.

Therefore I  knew that I had to build quality backlinks and I focused heavily on this for days and days. As a result, I have built 1.9k links from almost 90 best referring domains and 149 referring IPs.

Two ways I used to create backlinks are:

a. The broken-link building

Broken link building is the perfect way of creating backlinks by replacing links to 404 pages with a working target page link. I used Check My Links as I browsed around sites in the niche and uncovered a handful of broken links to use.

b. Competitors analysis

I  monitored competitors on social media platforms and looked for their link-building or earning techniques, as well as their content-marketing methods to earn better backlinks. You can use tools like Monitor Backlinks as such a tool helps you to add your four most important competitors and then get the links to work on.

Pro Tip- Maintain your backlinks while creating them.

Step #5: Social Media Marketing

Social media has so much potential when it comes to connecting people and developing relationships with users. So, I have chosen Facebook and Instagram, two platforms with higher user-engaging rates.

Followers I achieved:

Apart from crafting creative posts, what I include in my SMM strategy is:

  • Posting diversified contents
  • Joining niche groups
  • Actively commenting and responding to customer's query
  • Social Sharing
  • Appreciate customers for post sharing
  • Instagram Insights
  • Facebook Insights

Wrap up Thoughts

By following the steps outlined in this case study, I made my client reach the top positions in Google. With each step, I delivered better ranking, increased traffic, and better online visibility.

So, if you are looking for an exceptional approach to gain high traffic, you can use this approach.

Well, not only in this project but as this is one scalable SEO strategy you can use this for projects aiming for similar results.

Must say, never feel depressed if you are not getting good results, SEO is a slow process, may not offer instant results but lasting ones for sure!

Good luck!
